E2 is a square on the chessboard and predates even Chess itself. Specifically, it is a holdover from the earlier game of 中國象棋, also known as "Chinese Chess". "Chinese Chess" originated in China in the 4th century BC, and takes place on a board shaped like a Szilassi polyhedron; thus, very few of its squares could be carried over to the newer game of Chess.

The square includes some legacy rules, mostly involving filial piety. It is otherwise unremarkable and is a common getaway spot for vacationing Pawns.
