Chess Devil

The Chess Devil is a villainous corruptor and the main antagonist of Chess. He is from Chess Hell, specifically square F6Ζ, where he lives with his wife and family. Most of his attacks revolve around enticing pieces to ignore the commands of their player, often steering them towards trapdoors in the process. His alignment is typically Lawful Evil.

Chess Devil went down to G4. He was lookin' for a piece to capture.

He was up from Heck 'cause he was in Check. He was waiting for the Rapture.

When he came across this young man castlin' on a board and keepin' it real.

And Chess Devil jumped upon the chessboard there and said "Okay, here's the deal:

"I guess you didn't know it, but I'm a Chess player, too.

And if you'd care to take a dare I'll make a bet with you.

Now you play a pretty good Chess game, boy, but give Chess Devil his due;

I'll bet a Horsey of bronze against your pawns 'cause I think I'm better than you."

The boy said, "My name's Bobby, and it might be a blunder,

But I'll take your game; and you're to blame when I tear the board asunder."

Bobby, rosin up your King and play your Castle hard,

Chess Hell's broke loose in G4 and Chess Devil is at large.

And if you win you get this shiny Horsey made of bronze,

But if you lose, Chess Devil gets your Pawns...!

Chess Devil opened up his case and he said, "I'll start this round."

And fire flew from his Bishop as he flung it to the ground.

And he pulled the Ghost across the board and it made a spooky boo,

And Swordsmen here and Minions there and a Chess Cannon, too!

When Chess Devil finished, Bobby said, "Well, you're pretty good, ol' cuz,

But at Chess, I am the best, like no one ever was."

"Fire on B19." Run, boys, run!

Bobby attacks Professor Plum;

Tyson's in the trapdoor falling down below.

Granny, does your Rook bite? 'Well, you know.'

Chess Devil bowed his head because he knew that he had won.

And he gathered all the Pawns, leaving Bobby one.

Bobby said, "Devil, just you give those back, if you obey the laws;

To play chess is my real test, to regain them is my cause!"
